What is Lifestyle Counseling?

My practice is primarily focused on helping you reach your goals through the means of Lifestyle modification. Naturopaths are uniquely cross trained in multiple disciplines that directly affect the lifestyle-change process. As a Naturopath I am a teacher, guide, motivator, and fan club president for the individual engaged in the process of implementing healthy habits. The multi-disciplinary training and knowledge provide perfect complimentary programs to help you with weight loss and stress management and detoxification. Making changes can reduce the risk of preventable diseases, and improve overall quality of life. I focus on the entire fabric of the individual's lifestyle. I am well prepared to help patients modify attitudes, cognitions, emotions, goals, and behaviors.

What is Detoxification?

Evolving research suggest that the cause of many health problems may be associated with prolonged exposure to various toxic agents in our environment. The body's capacity to carry out this complex process of detoxification has to do in large measure with nutrition. Certain foods can burden the detoxification machinery of your body, while certain foods and nutrients can help it. Specific nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients may be extremely important in influencing how well your body detoxifies. I will work with you to determine which products will best meet your particular needs. In our industrialized world, we produce more and more potentially toxic compounds that find their way into the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. The body must rid itself of these dangerous substances by transforming and then excreting them through the lungs, skin, kidneys, and bowels. Unfortunately, due to excess stress on our bodies due to lifestyle factors not all toxins

are eliminated and some are recirculated back into our bloodstream and others are stored as fat tissue. This is why a good weight loss program must start out with a gentle detoxification process. Over the years toxins can build up in fat, joints, the brain, and various other tissues, potentially leading a variety of health concerns.
