Cheryl's Story

When I first saw Melissa I was suffering with all the symptoms from PCOS plus some. I had unwanted hair, dark skin patches from high insulin levels, over weight, skin tags, bald spots, amenorrhea, fatigue, insomnia, digestive problems, depression, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, high testosterone, low estrogen, I was a mess. Just a month prior to my first visit I was on all kinds of medication prescribed to me by my OB GYN, Endocrinologist, podiatrist, psychiatrist, gastroenterologist and primary care physician and I still wasn’t getting better. I was popping pills all day long and I would sleep 12 plus hours a day, had no energy, all my joints hurt, I was always getting sick, and it felt like I was falling apart. Eventually I was on the verge of becoming diabetic and then I finally was fed up and wanted to try something new.

With the help of Melissa, I lost 50lbs and am now on my 5th regular menstrual cycle (which hasn’t happened in at least 10 years or so, maybe more) she helped me regain my life back or I can say she helped me understand what I needed to do to have a healthy life because really I have never been healthy before now. Really I can’t even begin to describe to you how sick I really was. I could barley work because I had no energy, I was always hungry and ate 4 times more food than I do now and never felt satisfied. I was always getting sick with a cold, bronchitis, the flu, or random stomach viruses and everyday felt like a challenge for me. My digestive system was so messed up I always had abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, and sometimes my food would look the same way it did going in as it did coming out (meaning I wasn’t even digesting my food properly). I was over weight and malnourished. I was always in some kind of pain and it was so severe I would have to leave work and go straight to the ER or urgent care. All they gave me was pills and more pills. I called out of work a lot because of this and my employer noticed my physical inability to keep up with everyone else and my condition was causing me a lot of problems in the work place. I’m lucky that they never fired me but they still gave me a hard time and it wasn’t fun. Also because of all the extra weight I was carrying my back always hurt and my quality of life was reduced dramatically then it had been years earlier.

I never could have imagined last year around this same time that I would be 50 lbs less, having regular menstrual cycles and feeling great. I never remember feeling this healthy in my life. I thought that my PCOS was a death sentence and it would never get better, but it has. There is hope. I will tell you though it wasn’t easy. It took dedication and hard work but once you start feeling better the work turns into fun. I do have to say is it is an investment though of time and money. At first I didn’t want to pay the money for supplements and special food and exercise tapes or a gym membership, I just wanted to buy my 99 cent cheese burgers and be done with it. But honestly cheap food doesn’t save you money. You can buy cheap food but in the long run you spend more on food, doctors and medication. At first the change was a little expensive for me because I ate like I was eating for 3 people but now I save money because my body is running more efficiently and I eat less. I never go to the doctors because I never get sick. Before I was paying outrageous co-payments with multiple doctors and specialists and for medications and diagnostic exams, the only reason why I still have health insurance is because my job won’t let me drop it. Changing my lifestyle saved my life and helps me save money in the long run. Just in less than one short year all my efforts have paid off and my drastic situation has turned into a success story.  And I do have to say I owe a lot of my success to my Naturopath Melissa. I don’t know how I could have done any of it with out her. Thanks DOC.
